OSPAR's Quality Status Report 2023 Friday Ocean Findings Issue 19
This week sees the publication of 4 more status assessments for species on OSPAR's list of threatened and/or declining species and habitats.

Populations of both Balearic shearwaters and Iberian guillemots are showing worrying downward trends. The future of these species in the North-East Atlantic is uncertain in spite of measures taken by OSPAR Contracting Parties.

Leatherback and Loggerhead turtles are also at risk, with low reproductive rate and late age of sexual maturity meaning that any recovery may be slow.

These assessments contain our most up to date knowledge on population, pressures and measures that OSPAR Contracting Parties are taking to mitigate the historic and emerging threats.
