Sylvia Earle

Dr. Sylvia Earle is a world renowned advocate for the protection of the ocean. Her Deepness, as she has come to be known, is a marine biologist, oceanographer, explorer, author, and lecturer. She is a National Geographic explorer-in-residence, was the first female chief scientist of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and was named by Time Magazine as its first Hero for the Planet.
Dr Earle’s tireless mission to share the beauty of our shared ocean and educate the world about the threats facing it is truly inspirational. We are honoured to have received this message from her on the occasion of our Ministerial meeting 2021.
