Biodiversity and Ecosystems 2021

The annual meeting of the Biodiversity Committee was organised as an online meeting. The Committee prepared work for the QSR 2023 including extending common indicators to new Regions in the OSPAR maritime area and planning for the thematic assessments to bring together all the important information.

BDC presented first proposals on work that could contribute towards achieving the objectives of the new North-East Atlantic Environment Strategy for the period up until 2030.

OSPAR elected a new Chair of the Committee, Nina Schröder from Germany, and re-elected vice chair Michael McLeod. The Committee thanked the outgoing Chair for his dedication.

The Committee gave standing ovations and smiley faces in the online meeting setting.
