Monitoring and assessing the state of marine biodiversity

3 December 2018

Experts on monitoring the marine environment and assessing the status of biodiversity in the North East Atlantic came together in Madrid, Spain 27-29 November 2018. The group discussed further development of the OSPAR common indicators, which are used to assess if the marine environment is in good status. The group discussed first steps in bringing together information from several indicators into an integrated assessment of an ecosystem component, such as marine birds, and started planning for the next round of indicator based assessments to be delivered to the next OSPAR Quality Status Report to be published in 2023.
