The annual meeting of the Offshore Industry Committee met in Aberdeen in March where they discussed progress against the 2018-2019 Work Programme, concluded the review of progress made over the last ten years under the current North East Atlantic Environmental Strategy (NEAES 2010-2020) and developed objectives to be addressed under the new strategy for 2020-2030.

OIC concluded the review of progress against the current North East Atlantic Environmental Strategy (NEAES 2010-2020) .

OIC agreed on Operational Objectives for the new North East Atlantic Environmental Strategy (NEAES 2020-2030) on topics covering produced water, chemicals, plastic materials and substances, nanomaterials, noise, disposal of disused installations and carbon capture and storage activities

OIC reviewed a number of its existing measures with a view to updating measures where required. OIC agreed on amendments to Decisions and Recommendations and to put forward the amendments to OSPAR Commission for adoption.

OIC considered progress on JAMP products and agreed to finalise outputs on: assessment of the impacts of Decommissioned Pipelines on the Marine Environment and on other Users of the Sea and assessment of the Impacts of Disturbance of Cuttings Piles related to Decommissioning

OIC considered the annual report on discharges, spills and emissions from offshore oil and gas installations in 2017 and agreed to put forward the report to OSPAR Commission for adoption.
