OSPAR welcomes Susana Salvador

In August 2017, OSPAR welcomed Portugal's Susana Salvador as its new Executive Secretary.

Susana Salvador developed her career in the public administration in Portugal dealing with international fishing policy and oceans governance. Before coming to OSPAR she was Director of the Natural Resources Unit at the Directorate General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services of the Ministry of the Sea and was responsible for three operational Divisions - Fisheries, International Affairs and Aquaculture. Her career also counted with work developed in the European Commission – DGMARE – in relation to regional fisheries organisations and fisheries agreements in the North Atlantic region.

Her 28 years work experience mainly focused on the management and conservation of marine resources at different levels - European Union, multilateral framework and bilateral scope. She worked in the context of the Common Fisheries Policy and Regional Fisheries Organisations as well as of the EU Partnership Agreements with third countries alongside bilateral cooperation on fisheries and maritime affairs with CPLP countries.
