Protection of Species and Habitats

Experts on OSPAR listed threatened and or declining species and habitats came together in Paris, France 9-11 October 2018 to discuss how to halt the loss of biodiversity. Work to implement theOSPAR Roadmap on implementation of collective measures for threatened and/or declining species and habitats will be a focus area of work up until 2025. Joint efforts will be needed to implement measures on a regional scale that can improve the status of these OSPAR listed feature for priority action. The experts also discussed how to develop a system of assessing the status of the features, the threats and pressures affecting them and the measures already taken to protect them. Test assessments of black-legged kittiwate and harbour porpoise are being developed.
