Sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction

10 April 2019

OSPAR attended the Intergovernmental Conference on an international legally binding instrument under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction (General Assembly resolution 72/249) at the United Nations in New York.

OSPAR shared its collaboration experience with NEAFC at a side event and described the collective arrangement as a multilateral platform for dialogue on between competent organisations.

Executive Secretary, Susana Salvador also took part in discussions on the application of area based management tools under regional seas conventions (of which we are one!).
